I'm NOT Doing The London Marathon ... yet.

As you might have guessed, I didn’t run the London Marathon in April.

Half Marathon around Oxford

Due to ‘the current climate’ or ‘recent events’ or however one is meant to call it, it’s been postponed until October 4th. Which, hopefully, will still stand.

To be honest - although I was a bit sad at the announcement - I was also somewhat relieved, as I wasn’t quite where I’d hoped to be with the training (even though I did complete a half marathon one Sunday whilst hungover, which I consider no mean feat).

Not only will the re-schedule give me more time to get in shape (and lose the weight I’ve put on during lockdown), but it will be almost exactly 10 years since the passing of my Mum. And we all like nice round figures. Although a round figure is not optimal for marathon running, and I aim to be carrying a much more streamlined one in 4 months’ time.

Slippers!

I have been keeping up the running, although not as long-distance, just a few laps around the nearby park (I prefer off-road to on-road!). But I have dusted off the slipper-like Asics (a brand that I always feel has fitted me well) and will start putting in the miles soon.

Also the press-ups. Apparently that’s necessary since my arms will be pushing back and forth several thousand times.

My fundraising page is still live, and I will gradually get back on the fundraising campaign soon. You’ve been warned!

Until then: stay well, stay fit, and hopefully see you in once piece at the finish line the afternoon of Sunday the 4th!
